Electric field-induced orientation of block copolymer microdomains has increasingly become an important tool for generation of highly ordered templates for nanotechnological applications. Here, we show SAXS experiments elucidating the mechanisms and kinetics of block copolymer microdomain alignment. In addition, we demonstrate the distinct influence of electric fields on the microphase behavior, resulting in reversible tuning of the microdomain spacing and even order-order-transitions (e.g. Gyr-Cyl) at sufficiently high field strengths.
