The migration and accumulation of iodide ions create a modulation of the respective interfacial barriers causing the hysteresis in methylammonium lead iodide perovskite based solar cells. Iodide ions are identified as the migrating species by measuring temperature dependent current-transients and photoelectron spectroscopy.
