ERef guidelines
1. Objectives and functions
ERef Bayreuth serves as the key tool for documenting
references of scholarly publications by the staff members of the University of
Bayreuth, while at the same time functioning as a tool for the preparation
of the University's bibliography.
ERef Bayreuth provides all staff members of the University of
Bayreuth with the organisational and technical
frameworks for the publication of references of all scholarly publications
and administrative documents of long-term relevance.
In terms of content, ERef Bayreuth's structure mirrors the
organisation of the University.
ERef Bayreuth provides an exporting function for re-using
the data in bibliographic management software. It also offers an interface
to the CMS with the possibility of including personal or institutional
lists of publications available on the server into individual websites,
including the automatic update of the lists if changes are present.
From 2014, ERef Bayreuth will also be used as for the
preparation of the University's bibliography.
The University's bibliography includes all scholarly publications by staff members
of the University of Bayreuth that are a result of their work at the
University. Not included in the University's bibliography are publications,
which were completed before the author became a staff member of the University of
Bayreuth.
Nevertheless, the inclusion of older references into
ERef Bayreuth is possible at any time and is highly
recommended.
Authors enter the necessary data into ERef Bayreuth in
person or by proxy. 2. Collection goalsThe collection goals of ERef Bayreuth include the storage and archiving of all references for scholarly publications and administrative documents of long-term relevance entered by staff members of the University of Bayreuth. There are no plans for a time-limit on the storage of references. The authors confer the right to the University of Bayreuth to store the metadata and to make it publicly available on the internet without a time-limit and free of charge. There is no remuneration for the provision of the data. The commercial use of the references by the University Library is ruled out. The reimbursement of costs or the charging of fees required by law does not constitute commercial use. The University of Bayreuth does not assume liability for copyright infringements resulting from the publication of metadata. 3. Types of documents and persons eligible for publicationReferences for the following types of scholarly publications and administrative documents of long-term relevance may be added to ERef Bayreuth:
4. Long-term availability and archivingPrincipally, the permanent and free availability of the entered references is intended. Removed references are not deleted from the server, but excluded from public access. The University of Bayreuth ensures the archiving as far as possible within the limits of technical development and of reasonable expenditure. 5. Cataloguing regulationsEvery reference is allocated an entry from the internationally used Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) in order to achieve an effective content search on a national and international level. The addition of abstracts and keywords is highly recommended. To ensure a uniform level of quality, the staff of the University Library might correct or add to the metadata in certain cases. ERef Bayreuth is included into the international net of Open Archive servers, therefore its contents are available from OAIster, BASE, Google Scholar, Google and OpenAIRE. 6. Organisational regulationsThe content of ERef Bayreuth is administred by the University Library Bayreuth, technical maintenance is provided by the IT Service Centre of the University Bayreuth. First point of contact for all questions concerning ERef Bayreuth is the University Library.
