Abstract in another language
We perform cell dynamics simulations to study the assembly of nanoparticles in diblock copolymer templates under electric fields. Our simulations predict that the nanoparticles directed by the diblock copolymer templates can assemble into various oriented structures, e.g., lamella, alternating lamella (for two types of particles), and cylinder on the macroscopic scale by selecting appropriate parameters when an electric field is applied. Our results demonstrate that there exists a strong correlation between the ordering kinetics of nanoparticles and the evolution of block copolymer domains under electric fields. The described method can provide a new route to realize ordered and anisotropic arrays of nanoparticles on a macroscopic scale.
