Mutter Courage, gespielt von Helene Weigel. Die 1959 entstande Filmversion zählt zum kanonischen Bestand der Theaterwissenschaft. Was aber ist an der Spielweise der Weigel episch-verfremdend? Wie setzt sie Brechts Theaterkonzeption um? Warum soll Stanislawskis Spielweise gar das Gegenteil von Brecht darstellen? Der Beitrag nimmt diesen Fragekomplex auf und legt die Wissens- und Mediengeschichte dar, welche sowohl Brecht wie Stanislawski, vermutlich auch die Weigel prägten. Man erfährt so, wie die Faszination, den mimischen Ausdruck in Fotografien fixieren und gleichsam vom Gesicht ablösen zu können, die Spielweise der Weigel und ihrer Zeitgenossen mittelbar beeinflussten.

Sorry for not beeing reader friendly, but a frech take on Brechts acting theory deserves some critical thinking beyond "Brecht the theoretician", "Brecht the director" and "generalized comparisons between Brecht's 'system' of acting and Stanislavsky's".
