Abstract in another language

Polymorphism of a popular chemical: Luminol is marketed in the metastable form II. The structure of this newly characterized form II shares primary (amide-hydroxyimine tautomer), secondary (hydrogen bonded trimers), and tertiary (layers) building motifs with the already known form I of luminol. The two forms differ only in the stacking of the layers and may therefore be regarded as polytypes.
