Abstract in another language

This paper probes Westphal’s geocriticism (2007) which explores, among others, the links between geography, literature and intertextuality in order to provide a critical and actuality-bound reading of the play Autopsie d’un macchabée (2009) by the Mahorian writer Nassur Attoumani. The analysis highlights the importance of a plural form of reading, bringing together faction (fiction grounded in facts) and space as the referent and social parameters in understanding ambiguities that pertain to the contemporary topic of migration. The paper argues that this exploration of ambiguity is particularly relevant in the case of the Comoros Archipelago where there is a marked distinction between experienced geography (“smooth space”) and political geography (“striated space”) (Deleuze & Guattari).
