Abstract in another language

Postdramatic theatre has become a kind of umbrella term for a new form of theatre (some would still call Euro-trash). Within it's international reception, however, critics and scholars tend to consider the impact of postdramatic theatre without a proper understanding of the way it is produced and embedded within a particular theatre history. This article thus reveals, how postdramatic playwrite and director René Pollesch deconstructs a psycho-realistic acting-approach in his production "Ping Pong d'Amour" (Munich 2009). It traces the elocution of the Pollesch ensemble and how it relates to the history of theatre and actor's traninig, particularly to Julius Hey's training programme in elocution, which he designed in 19th century around the Wagnerian concept of a "German belcanto".
