Der Beitrag stellt die Frage nach dem Zusammenspiel der Sinne in der Performance Kunst. Geht es im Sammeband vor allem um eine positive Bestimmung dieses Verhälnisses, so wird hier mit Blick auf die Operations-Performances der französichen Avantgarde Künstlerin ORLAN die Negation als Argument stark gemacht. Welche Dimesion der Betäubung der Sinne evozieren die Arbeiten ORLANs?

The article examins the issue of the interplay of the senses - as related to radical body art. In contrast to the usual associative concept of the interplay, the case of the French avant-garde artist ORLAN reveals a possible negation as part of the sensual activities. Can we take her operation-performances as a point in case to think of anesthesia rather than synesthesia in the arts?
