Figuration is a term most common in narratology and rhetorics, though less introduced in theatre and performance studies. Through cross-media story telling and new insides in the history of theatre and drama, the connex of figure and situation is now longer self-evident. This volume collects a series of articles on the deconstruction of the role figure as a key organizing pattern in literature, theatre, performance and dance. The contributor pursue the idea to think of figuration instead.

Der Bande liefert einen Beitrag zur Diskussion der Begriffe Figur und Figuration. Aus interdisziplinärer Perspektive versammelt er Ansätze der Inszenierungsanalyse, der Theatergeschichte, der Texttheorie, den Performance Studies und der Cultural Analysis. Gegenstand der Beiträge sind Aufführungen aus dem Musik-, Sprech-, und Figurentheater sowie dem Tanz, Theaterrezensionen, Formen älteren Theaters, Performances und Körperkunst bis hin zu Pop-Ikonen und soap operas. Figuration verspricht dabei eine Ausweitung einer lieb gewonnenen Topologie, die sich mit Figur, Handlung, Subjekt, Körper und Repräsentation eingenzen lässt.
