The axially chiral monodentate phosphine P-8 was synthesized in enantiomerically pure form, starting from the readily available, configurationally unstable lactone 1. Furthermore, its application as a ligand in the Pd-catalyzed stereoselective hydrosilylation of styrenes was investigated.
