Der im Pazifik gelegene Inselstaat Fidschi ist regelmäßig von tropischen Wirbelstürmen und somit starken Regenfällen, Sturmfluten und Überschwemmungen betroffen. Auch die Häufigkeit und Intensität der Extremwetterereignisse nimmt durch den Klimawandel zu. Vor allem der Agrarsektor, in dem jeder dritte Fidschianer arbeitet, ist in hohem Maße den Klimagefahren ausgesetzt und gilt als vulnerabel. Klimarisikoversicherungen können helfen, die Resilienz der Bevölkerung, speziell der Landwirte zu erhöhen.

Located in the Pacific, Fiji is affected by tropical cyclones and associated strong winds, extreme rainfall, storm surges, and flooding. Climate change is expected to increase the frequency and impacts of cyclones. The agricultural sector, which employs one in three working Fijians, is highly exposed to climate hazards and Fijian farmers are vulnerable to disasters.
Climate risk insurance, such as the product piloted by the Pacific Insurance and Climate Adaptation Programme, may increase resilience by helping vulnerable Fijians cope with cyclone risk.
