Für die Bearbeitung stadtklimatischer Fragestellungen stehen mehrere Untersuchungsmethoden zur Verfügung. Neben direkten und indirekten Messungen mit verschiedensten Beobachtungssystemen können auch Modelle herangezogen werden. Diese unterteilen sich in physikalische Modelle (z. B. Windkanal) und in numerische Simulationsmodelle. Jede der Untersuchungsmethoden hat ganz spezifische Stärken, aber auch Schwächen. Aus diesem Grunde erscheint es vorteilhaft, Aussagen zum Stadtklima aus der Zusammenschau der sehr unterschiedlichen Ergebnisse abzuleiten.

Various methods are available to discuss and address issues in the field of urban climate. Besides observations and measurements with various in-situ and remote sensing monitoring systems, also models are available. These models can be classified into physical models (e.g. wind tunnel) and numerical simulation models. However, each method has its specific strengths but also weaknesses. Therefore, it seems appropriate and beneficial to derive results and statements regarding urban climate from aggregated results of the various methods.
