Abstract in another language

Language fulfills multiple functions in aviation. These include, but are not limited to, aeronautical radiotelephony between pilots and air traffic controllers, interaction between pilots in the flight deck, all flight-related communication involving cabin crew, ground personnel, and maintenance staff, plus language use connected to various kinds of manuals, checklists, and safety briefings. Particularly safety-critical uses of language are subject to varying degrees of regulation and standardization, which are mainly put forward by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Some of the most prominent challenges concerning language in aviation are related to the genuinely international nature of the global aviation industry.
