Abstract in another language
The atom transfer radical polymerization of N,N-diisopropyl ammonium acrylate was successfully carried out, either with continuous exposure to air or in the presence of small amounts of air, which were introduced to the reaction mixture during the polymerization. A linear growth of molecular weight as a function of conversion and low polydispersities of the polymers synthesised here were consistent with the controlled polymerization. Since the polymerization was carried out in the presence of air, oxygen may act as co-catalyst or can be an initiator in a CuBr/bipy/O-2 complex.
