Zum Herstellen eines Derivats eines Alkans wird das Alkan in einer supersauren Lösung, die einen Katalysator und ein Schwefeltrioxid enthaltendes Oxidationsmittel enthält, zumindest anteilig zu einem Alkylsulfat umgesetzt. Anschließend wird dem so gebildeten Gemisch eine Hilfssäure zugegeben, wobei zumindest aus einem Anteil des gebildeten Alkylsulfats ein Alkylester der Hilfssäure gebildet wird, wobei eine Hilfssäure verwendet wird, deren Alkylester aus dem Gemisch abtrennbar ist. Schließlich wird der gebildete Alkylester zumindest teilweise aus der gebildeten Lösung abgetrennt.

A method for the production of alkane derivatives from alkanes by reaction with sulfur trioxide involves further reaction of the resulting alkyl sulfate with an auxiliary acid followed by separation of the resulting alkyl ester of the auxiliary acid. A method for the production of alkane derivatives (I) involves: (a) at least partial conversion of the alkane into alkyl sulfate in a super-acid solution containing a catalyst and a sulfur trioxide-containing oxidizing agent, (b) addition of an auxiliary acid (II) to form an alkyl ester of the auxiliary acid from at least part of the alkyl sulfate (using an auxiliary acid (II) with alkyl esters which can be separated from the mixture) and (c) at least partial separation of the ester from the solution.
