Potentials of integrating new technologies, particularly carbon fiber reinforced plastics, are not fully considered conventional reengineering processes. This paper firstly addresses the benefit by integration of functions, reduction of weight and fuel consumption, substitution of rare materials and customer individuality. Consequently, these aspects have been evaluated in three case studies, comprising representative cultural goods (eg. pipe organs), components of sport-aircraft (eg. ultralight helicopters) and urban-transport (eg. multifunctional stroller-bicycle trailer). Therefore, the following methods have been applied: functional analysis, reverse engineering and measuring technologies.
