About 9 000 000 t of used electrical and electronic equipment are accumulated in the EU every year, which mean various impacts on the environment. To support those concerned, the guideline committee “VDI 2343 – Recycling of electrical and electronic equipment” was established in 1996. The committee consists of experts of various
professional groups and branches. Basically the guideline committee is to take into account the development of waste management and to support all involved in the disposal (reuse, utilization, elimination) of electrical and electronic equipment.

Jährlich fallen in der EU ca. 9 000 000 t Elektro(nik)altgeräte an, die vielfältige Belastungen für die Umwelt bedeuten. Um die betroffenen Kreise in ihrer Arbeit zu unterstützen, wurde 1996 der Richtlinienausschuss „VDI 2343 – Recycling elektr(on)ischer Geräte“ gebildet. Dem Ausschuss gehören Fachleute verschiedener Berufsgruppen und Branchen an. Grundsätzlich soll der Richtlinienausschuss den Entwicklungen der Abfallwirtschaft Rechnung tragen und alle mit der Entsorgung (Wiederverwendung, Verwertung, Beseitigung) von Elektro(nik)altgeräten betroffenen Kreise in ihrer Arbeit unterstützen.
