Taking into account all types of two‐pair coherences we have calculated four‐wave‐mixing (FWM) spectra emitted from a quantum wire for excitation conditions where excitons and free electron‐hole pairs are simultaneously excited. The spectra exhibit a mixing of discrete and continuous emissions which is shown to indicate nonperturbative Coulomb correlations. The line shapes are found to depend sensitively on the central frequency, the strength of the interaction as well as on the delay between the pulses.
