Abstract in another language
This work reports on a novel route in the preparation of a polycrystalline nitrosyl cation conducting β"-Al₂O₃ (NO-β"-Al2O3) ceramic. Ceramic Na-β"-Al₂O₃ discs with porous electrodes are heated to a few hundred degrees centigrade. A voltage of U>2V is applied. After gaseous NO is added the cathodic oxidation of NO to NO+ occurs. Driven by the voltage difference Na+ is replaced by NO+ cations. Different methods to verify both the excorporation of Na+ from the lattice and the incorporation of nitrosyl cations in the β"- Al₂O₃-structure are presented.
