Abstract in another language

The papers presented in this book are based on talks given at the workshop 'Individual-based structural and functional models in ecology' at the ecological field station of the University of Bayreuth located at Wallenfels. It was the fourth in a series of workshops organised on a yearly basis but the first one to become documented in written form. The general aim of the workshop was to bring together people interested in new approaches in ecological modelling, particularly concerning: (a) functional-structural tree models, (b) structural plant models (e.g. based on L-systems), (c) individual-based, object-oriented forest growth models, (d) models based on cellular automata, (e) genetic algorithms and evolution strategies, (f) complexity measures for analysing time series, (g) formalisms for simplifying complicated models
