Abstract in another language

An analytical model suitable for process development of ultrathin particulate glass films and the experimental verification of the model is described. Starting from an analytical approach, developed originally to describe the interaction between melt velocity and film thickness upon atomization of metal melts by means of a rotating cup, further development has been performed. This development consists of a model, which is more suitable for glass melts taking into account the role of the cooling process on film formation. This extended analytical approach can be used to determine the dependence of film thickness on the volume flow rate, rotational speed, cup radius and viscosity of the glass melt. In addition, the influence of temperature and the transition from liquid to under-cooled melt is analyzed to enable prediction of the film thickness for the production of ultrathin glass films. Specialised equipment is used to experimentally verify the predictions of the model.
