Abstract in another language
Bottles, cans and so on made of plastics are used in a variety of packaging applications. Extrusion blow moulding has been tremendously successful in broad applications working with polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) for example. Shortening and perfecting the blow moulding process is the key challenge of industry to make bottles and canisters with less material as possible and to comply with prober product performance requirements.
SIMULIA Abaqus 2016 was chosen to fine-tune the bottle extrusion blow moulding method by using realistic simulation going inside the mould and getting a deep understanding of cooling characteristics. These process evaluation is the starting point when creating and evaluating designs of packagings and moulds to produce bottles with as few material as possible by using energy efficient process configurations.
