Abstract in another language

The Institute for Industrial Furnaces and Heat Engineering in Metallurgy performed off-gas measurements at electric arc furnaces (EAF) during steel production. In particular, the post-combustion of the EAF off-gases with air was studied in primary dedusting systems. Off-gas composition, temperature and volume flow rate data obtained through measurements precisely define boundary condition for CFD simulations of the gas flow in dedusting plants. In addition, a computer program was developed to simulate the gas and enthalpy flows is the complete dedusting system. The validity of mathematical model was verified through off-gas measurements during EAF operation. This simulation program allows the investigation of the impact of modifications or altered operation of the dedusting system on the volume and enthalpy flows at the EAF, in order to optimise the operation of existing EAF plants. Results of measurements and simulations are presented.
