The Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) represent the international compass for the times to come. By 2030, “the lives of all will be profoundly improved” (UNGA 2015: 2), the agenda promises. But the declaration falls more than short of the international community’s own pretensions.

Die Agenda 2030 und die dort festgehaltenen Nachhaltigen Entwicklungsziele (Sustainable Development Goals, SDG) sind der internationale Fortschrittsfahrplan für die kommende Zeit. Bis zum Jahr 2030 soll sich „das Leben aller Menschen grundlegend verbessern“ (UNGA 2015: 2). Doch der „Weltzukunftsvertrag“ bleibt weit hinter dem Anspruch zurück, den sich die internationale Staatengemeinschaft selbst gestellt hat.
