Abstract in another language
The heterogeneously catalysed epimerisation of the menthol stereoisomers is a key step in the synthesis of (-)-menthol in the Symrise process. As a very promising reactor concept a continuous presaturated one liquid flow (POLF) reactor was investigated in lab scale for the epimerisation step. To be able to take mass transfer limitations into account a numerical method was established. Thus reactors using bigger particles which are interesting for an industrial scale can be designed and continuous reactors are compared to discontinuous ones in this week.
