Abstract in another language
Urinary incontinence is a urological health issue affecting millions of people worldwide. While conventional aids have unhygienic and cumbersome attributes, mobile health (mHealth) interventions have the potential to significantly improve the quality of life. However, knowledge on how patients adopt mHealth interventions and how these solutions should be designed is scarce. In this study, we aim at presenting an adoption model to explain and derive design principles to support the adoption of mHealth solutions by chronic disease patients. We therefore followed an action design research approach, which held a systematic literature review of 67 papers and 16 expert interviews to build and evaluate the ex-ante model and another 16 interviews as well as a confirmative survey to further refine and evaluate the model. The ex-post model consists of five categories and 28 sub-categories of mHealth adoption.
