Klimapolitik, Trump, Gendersternchen – in vielen Bereichen gilt die öffentliche Meinung als polarisiert. Allerdings entspricht die Polarisierung der öffentlichen Meinung selten einer Polarisierung der gesamten Gesellschaft. Eine Mehrheit in der Mitte beteiligt sich nicht am Diskurs, um nicht in eine bestimmte Ecke geschoben zu werden.
