Breaking New Ground? Expanding Our Knowledge Of How Firms Signal Their Entrepreneurial Orientation.

Abstract in another language

Our research contributes to the entrepreneurship literature in several important ways. First, we venture beyond commonly employed word count analyses of firm’s annual reports and LTS within EO research by (a) examining a broader range of communication sources and (b) methodologically applying more recent NLP methods to consider deeper communication nuances. In doing so, we are better able to assess how an entrepreneurially-oriented firm utilizes various information channels to signal their entrepreneurial postures. While each of the identified sources is likely to suffer from its own limitations and potential biases, it is the sum of these pieces that enable us to move closer towards solving the puzzle of measuring entrepreneurial orientation within firm communications.
