Abstract in another language

Despite the incredible volume of scholarship on the firm performance outcomes of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) that have accumulated over the past four decades, this research considers whether and how the literature has made strides in terms of consistency regarding variable choices and model building coherence. To address the question of how we can get better ‘in control’ of EO research, we examine how variables have been employed, modeled, and controlled within this voluminous body of EO research. We provide researchers and practitioners with a comprehensive guide to the most relevant variables in the EO-performance context and discuss variables that fall short of expectations. Lastly, we offer modeling recommendations necessary to develop more comprehensive, coherent, and impactful EO-performance studies.
