Abstract in another language

Due to transparency and immutability of transaction data, blockchain-based applications are challenged by data protection requirements, such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation. In specific, productive application of the technology often fails due to incompliance with legal regulations. As current research mainly focuses on use case-specific blockchain solutions, we aim to offer domain- and use case-independent guidance regarding the development of GDPR-compliant blockchain solutions. Thus, following the action design research method, we contribute to the research domain with a generic framework supporting in the creation of GDPR-compliant blockchain applications. Our research approach also allows us to derive design principles for the development of compliant blockchain-based solutions.
