Abstract in another language
Choosing the right retail location can be challenging. This holds particularly true for mobile store retail concepts where locations are flexible and can be changed frequently. Practitioners rely on trial and error to find ‘good’ locations and timeslots. To provide mobile store operators with decision support, this work considers how different location choice policies perform, assuming that the number of customers, frequency of visits, and demand are unknown. Using agent-based simulation, we compare the performance of these policies against a reinforcement learning agent. In this way, our work shows how low- and high-tech solutions can facilitate better decisions related to location choices.
