Ob Smartphones, Laptops oder Elektrofahrzeuge: Zentrale Technologien sind auf Kobalt angewiesen, das in den vergangenen Jahren zu einem Schlüsselmaterial globaler Transformationsprozesse wurde. Mit der Energiewende verändern sich zugleich geopolitische Macht- und Abhängigkeitsstrukturen. Neben Erdöl und Erdgas treten zunehmend sogenannte kritische Rohstoff e wie Lithium, Nickel, Seltene Erden und eben Kobalt. Der Wettbewerb um deren Sicherung prägt die Rohstoffstrategien zahlreicher Staaten und Unternehmen.
