Abstract in another language

During the last years DNA-barcoding has become an efficient method for species identification. Althoughdemanding, applications of barcoding to the species and ecological divers Heteroptera are still scarce. Weanalyzed DNA barcodes for 1.742 specimens of 457 Central European species, comprising 39 families of theHeteroptera. With a successful identification rate of 94.5% we showed that this method has great potential ascomplementary method to species identification based on morphological characteristics. Moreover, our studyrevealed several taxonomic uncertainties and surprises. We found evidence for ongoing hybridization as well asthe putative existence of cryptic species.
