Changing boundary conditions in electric drives like increasing DC-link voltage or new semiconductor
developments open a door for new converter structures like different types of the ANPC converter. Since
system cost is a very important criterion in the automotive industry, these converter structures must be
examined to evaluate their suitability as traction converters.
