Abstract in another language

Abstract in another language

In recent years, African history has been the object of celebration and discussion, but also disputes, in different spheres – academic, political, and cultural. Particularly, by rescuing and valuing the African past, it has sought to critically understand the contradictions of its present and, from that, to form foundations that help in the construction of a new future for the continent. One of the pillars of this African re-vision process has been recognized for its artistic and cultural productions, and in particular, its cinematographic production - considered at the same time as products and producers of History. That being said, this article seeks to shed light on the continuities and discontinuities of African audiovisual production in recent decades, in order to understand how the African continent and its population have been imagined and re- imagined at different times in recent history.
