Abstract

Speech-based robot instruction is a promising field in private households and in small and medium-sized enterprises. It facilitates the use of robot systems for experts as well as non-experts, especially, when the user executes other tasks. To gain information on how users instruct robots or perceive robot motions, wizard of oz experiments are often used. While this is totally fine for object manipulation tasks, force based motions are hard to simulate. We introduce a new kind of the wizard of oz setup, where the robot is not controlled through a controller, but through another robot arm. By doing this, force feedback is available for the wizard and controlling the robot arm is easily possible for non-experts. We tested this setup in a user study. The results are presented and compared to previous studies.
