Applied Theatre, das seine Wirkung auf soziale, politische, therapeutische Zwecke hin entfalten kann, zeichnet sich durch spezifische Begegnungen der daran Beteiligten aus. Sie
schwanken zwischen positiv erlebter Affizierung und Ernüchterung. Diese Schwankungen sind nicht zuletzt durch häufig unklare Rahmenbedingungen bedingt und deuten auf ein latentes Risiko der Destabilisierung von Applied Theatre-Projekten. Der Beitrag untersucht vor diesem Hintergrund mögliche Gelingensbedingungen für nachhaltige Projekte desApplied
Theatre. Anhand von vier Fallstudienwerden Risiken im Prozess desTheatermachens und der Nachbesprechung vorgestellt. Die Auswertung der Risikoszenarien zielt auf eine Definition eines nachhaltigen theaterwissenschaftlichen Aufführungsbegriffs, der zeitlich auch Probenprozesse
und Nachbereitungen von Aufführungen umfasst und qualitativ die Affizierungsprozesse der an der Aufführung Beteiligten spezifiziert. Mit Verweis auf das Konzept der ‚Unverfügbarkeit‘ (Rosa) wird die Feedback-Schleife zwischen Publikum und Zuschauer als komplexer und störanfälliger Prozess der Widerfahrnis differenziert.

Applied Theatre, with its potential for social, political, and therapeutic impact, is characterized by specific interactions among its participants. These encounters oscillate between positive affective experiences and moments of disillusionment. Such fluctuations are, in part, attributable to often-ambiguous contextual factors, highlighting a latent risk of destabilization within Applied Theatre projects. This article investigates potential conditions for the success of sustainable Applied Theatre initiatives. Drawing on four case studies, it presents risks inherent in the theatre-making process and post-performance discussions. The analysis of these risk scenarios aims to define a sustainable, theatre-studies-based concept of performance that encompasses rehearsal processes and post-performance discussions, while also qualitatively specifying the affective processes of those involved. Referencing the concept of 'unavailability' (Rosa), the feedback loop between audience and performers is differentiated as a complex and susceptible experiential process.
