Abstract
This chapter explores the advantages of integrated operation of district heating and cooling (DHC) and electric distribution systems in the context of multi-energy microgrids. First, the chapter describes the potential of multi-energy operations from the perspective of flexibility. Second, it delves into the analysis of coordinated steady-state operation, showcasing the benefits of energy integration. Last, the chapter introduces CoSES laboratory infrastructure, which allows developing and validating coordinating energy management schemes, ensuring real-world applicability and effectiveness.
