Abstract
This research project aims to further develop the independent and specialised simulation tool Z88ENSI. This tool is intended to make the thermal behaviour of Dual-Purpose Storage and Transport Casks (DPCs) more user-friendly and computationally more cost-effective for safety-related assessment purposes.
As part of this project, we have already implemented several eatures to Z88ENSI. These include height-specific burn-up of spent fuel rod assemblies (SFA), an extension of the graphical user interface (GUI) to allow variation of material parameters related to a specific component or region of the DPC and automatically generated calculation reports. Recently, we finished the last part of the
project: The estimation of peak fuel rod cladding temperatures through the use of finite element substitute models for the SFA. This method already delivers promising calculation results, but it is still being validated at the time of this report.
