Abstract
Particle sensors are of high interest for the application in exhaust gas aftertreatment systems. Resistive sensors comprise planar interdigital electrodes. A voltage is applied between both electrodes. Soot deposition leads to an increasing current between the electrodes. The slope of the current over time correlates with the soot concentration in the exhaust. In the present study, we investigate the influence of the applied voltage and the sensor temperature on soot deposition on the sensors surface. Whereas higher voltages lead to increasing soot deposition due to electrophoresis, a higher sensor temperature leads to decreased soot deposition due to thermophoresis.
