Abstract in another language

Relatively long process time, expensive raw materials and the manufacturing costs of carbon fiber-reinforced SiC ceramic composites (C/C-SiC) are high and therefore a wide application of the material is prevented. A faster pyrolysis step can be achieved via microwave hybrid heating and it could contribute to a cost reduction. Results of hybrid heating are presented for the pyrolysis of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP). Heating rates of up to 2000 K/h were achieved and after the process the C/C composites were siliconized without delamination. Related to the power consumption for pyrolysis, energy saving rates of 25%-70 % are possible compared to conventional heating methods.
