Abstract in another language
Zeolites combine a broad range of properties: high adsorption capability, catalytic activity, and ionic conductivity. They all can be modified by engineering pore and channel structures or the type or amount of exchangeable cations. As the different properties depend on each other, electrical characterization of the ionic mobility inside the zeolite framework opens the opportunity to “measure” the functional properties of these materials as they depend on the ambient conditions. Several applications come in mind, e.g., the use of zeolites as functional sensor materials or the in-situ diagnosis of processes or applications in which zeolites are involved. Even novel dosimeter-like sensor concepts are possible. This study overviews novel applications of zeolites in gas sensors or for in-situ determination of a catalysts states.
