Abstract in another language

Some metal oxides, e.g. Ga2O3 or doped SrTiO3, are excellent materials to detect hydrocarbons in the rough atmosphere of automotive exhausts. However, their cross sensitivity towards oxygen is unfavorable. In order to improve the sensor performance, it is proposed to combine these sensors with an electrochemical pumping cell, e.g. of YSZ, to establish a constant oxygen partial pressure in the ambient of the resistive sensor.
