Abstract in another language
For the performance optimization of piezoelectric ceramics, grain orientation by templated grain growth is a favourable way. Within this work the texturisation of lead based piezoelectric PMN-32PT and PMN-37PT-21PZ matrices was studied by using {001}-oriented SrTiO3 and BaTiO3 templates in order to enhance the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of the resulting ceramics. First, the growth potential of the ST and BT seeds was investigated in both matrices. Therefore, macroscopic {001}-oriented single crystals were embedded and the growth of single crystals in the matrix was promoted by hot pressing and a subsequent sintering step. Analyses of the microstructure showed a single crystal growth in the Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)0,68Ti0,32O3 matrix as well as in the Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)0,42Ti0,32Zr0,21O3 matrix. A pronounced crystal growth was observed in matrices with an excess 1.5 mol% lead oxide. For texturised ceramics the templates were aligned by tape-casting. The sintering parameters were based on the compiled optimum conditions for the growth of macroscopic single crystals. Because of the dissolution of ST-templates in both matrices the BT-templates are more appropriate for the texturising step. The piezoelectric characterisation showed that the strain of texturised samples was enhanced up to 100% compared to randomly oriented ones.
