Metallo-organic pastes (resinate pastes) have been well-known for many years. They may consist of precious metal compounds (gold, platinum) that are dissolved in organic oils. Although the described materials are well known, no information about possible applications of metallo-organic pastes on LTCC is available. In our opinion, the pastes can be advantageously used for LTCC devices. Their low film thickness (one layer less than 1 μm) allows improving the flatness of the structure. Due to their lower thickness, the sheet resistance of resinate films is higher than those of typical thick-film conductive materials. This may be advantageous, for example for designing ohmic resistors for heater purposes. This contribution presents results of a study about resinate pastes on LTCC ceramics. In our study gold resinate paste that were printed on different LTCC tapes were characterized. The test structures were arranged both as surface and as buried elements. The prepared structures were examined by SEM and EDX-analysis. Electrical properties of the fabricated structures are discussed and compared with properties of similar elements manufactured on standard alumina substrates.
