Abstract in another language

The relationship between microstructure, effective conductance and effective thermopower for gas sensitive materials was computed. n-type, p-type and intrinsic semiconductors with surface induced space charge regions were simulated. The FEM-modeling using the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation supplies valuable results for the further development of direct thermoelectric gas sensors. First measurements with Fe2O3 support the hypothesis that thermoelectric gas sensors based on intrinsic semiconductors show an increased sensitivity.
