Relationships between microstructure and effective conductance / thermopower for gas sensitive materials were computed. n-type, p-type and intrinsic semiconductors with surface induced space charge regions were simulated. The FEM-modeling using the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation supplies valuable results for the further development of direct thermoelectric gas sensors.
