Abstract in another language
A new thermoelectric gas sensor is presented. It provides the advantages and overcomes the disadvantages of geometry dependent resistive gas sensors. The sensor effect is based on the gas sensitive Seebeck coefficient η. This is completely different from conventional thermoelectric gas sensors, where a thermovoltage is generated by an exothermic reaction. By applying an alternating temperature gradient onto the gas sensitive material the Seebeck coefficient can be determined. An important part of the sensor is a shielding layer, which inhibits the superposition of the modulation voltage with the thermovoltage.
