Abstract in another language
This review deals with resistive oxygen gas sensors, mainly for automotive applications. After a short introduction on zirconia sensors and resistive titania oxygen exhaust gas sensors the main focus is on devices that are in a research state and have not been serialized yet. Sensors of strontium titanate, one of the novel materials that originally served as a basis for thickand thin-film sensors are covered by this review as well as several types of gas sensitive materials with a temperature independent characteristic and their problems of stability in real exhaust gas. Finally, novel multifunctional sensor types, e.g. devices for catalyst malfunction detection based on resistive oxygen, sensors are discussed.
